Placement Auditions for those new to the Symphony Orchestra:
  • Musicians new to WSCO or new to the Symphony Orchestra are asked to play for 1-2 conductors or coaches at the start of the session.

  • Auditions are informal and serve as an opportunity for us to meet you and help find the ensemble that will best fit your current playing ability. Musicians are only required to audition once but are always welcome to re-audition at the start of any session, should they wish to switch ensembles.

  • You may request an audition at the time of registration. Auditions for the Fall 2023 session are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

  • For placement in the Symphony Orchestra, please be prepared to play:

  1. 2 Major scales of your choice (2 octaves)

  2. 2 Minor scales of your choice (2 octaves)

  3. 2 minutes of your choice of excerpts, or a piece you have prepared.

  4. Expect some sight-reading (which will be an excerpt of current repertoire)

Cost:
  • Students K-12: FREE!

  • Adult fee: $90 for the Fall 2023 session
