Concert Orchestra

The Concert Orchestra, previously known as the "Intermediate Orchestra", is conducted by Mike Jauregui. They tackle challenging works from orchestral masters as well as more contemporary works. Experience levels range from three to seven years. Instrumentation is for a full orchestra, strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion, and includes students and adults.

Quick Information

Regular Rehearsals:
  • Tuesdays, 5:30 to 6:45 PM 

  • Rehearsals take place at Chief Sealth High School

 
Concerts​​
  • Concerts take place at Chief Sealth High School Auditorium

  • Concert attire is all black

 

Placement Auditions for those new to the Concert Orchestra:
  • Musicians new to WSCO or new to the Concert Orchestra are asked to play for the conductor or one of the coaches at the start of the season. 

    • Auditions will take place prior to the beginning of each session at Chief Sealth High School

    • Placement auditions by arrangement. To schedule an audition, contact info@wscorchestras.org

  • For placement in the Concert Orchestra, please be prepared to play:

  1. 2 Major scales of your choice from C, G, D, A, F, B-flat, E-flat, or A-flat (2 octaves preferred)

  2. 2 Minor scales of your choice (2 octaves preferred)

  3. 2 minutes of your choice of excerpts, or a piece you have prepared. The "excerpt" can be anything! A piece you are currently playing, an etude, a piece from your friend's clarinet book... whatever you are comfortable performing. 

  4. Expect some sight-reading (which will be an excerpt of current repertoire)

Cost:
  • Students K-12: FREE!

  • Adult fee: $75 for Fall session, $150 for Winter/Spring session
